This new project needs a little PR help. I've always seen this block called "Devil's Claw", which is truly unappealing as a quilt name. Can someone put a positive spin on it or come up with an alternate name?
Have a look at this post on Barbara Brackman's blog: http://barbarabrackman.blogspot.com/2010/11/botch-handledevils-claws.html and perhaps you'll find a name that is more appealing to you. I kind of like "Cluster of Lilies" myself ;o) And such a nice block should have a nice name!
Actually several other names are listed in BlockBase, Brackman's electronic version of "Encylopedia of Pieced Quilt Blocks.
She lists alternate names of Bright Star, Corner Star, Cross Plains, Idaho Beauty and The Crowfoot. The suggested Star Crossing seems very appropriate!

I suggest "Cat's Claw"
seems appropriate given your blog's name!
XOXOXO Subee
I think it looks like sparklers.
My friend calls this "Skyrockets."
Decca - considering the colors, maybe "Spring Fireworks"?
