Rushing it, just a little

Talk about your over-achieving garden plants! I picked these last night. There was another but a bunny got to it first. Admittedly, the variety is called "Early Girl" and I bought large plants, not those little slips in peat pots, but really! May 23rd? That must be a new record.

They are a bit small, but they are a lovely color and fully ripe. Don't know yet if they're good tomatoes or taste like tennis balls, like those in the grocery. We'll test them out in a salad tonight.

"Taste Like Tennis Balls"....???? Ah, ha, ha,ha, ha!!! Don't get me laughing this close to bed time. I thought only my Bourbon (the Springer Spaniel) knew what a tennis ball tastes like!!

So, how many tennis balls have you eaten to be able to compare these with???

I love home grown tomatoes. Mine are still green but getting there. I put a little fence up to keep out my lovely little bunny rabbits. We only have about a million bunnies out here. I have peas, carrots, potatoes, yellow squash and onions too. Only my onions are ready and they are really good. I have beets too but they are not for me. This is my first big garden. Last year I only had tomatoes and onions. I gave away alot of this to my neighbors. I think they are watching my garden as much as I am! They are ready for some fresh produce.

We don't even have ours in yet, or didn't until last night. It has been a very cold spring here. I am envying your tomatoes.

...I'm quite envious...my back issues & our cold, wet spring as well as my shady back yard have kept me from planting the couple of plants I purchased... the bean plants were "eaten" before I could plant them...
and the high cost of watering a large garden has left me agriculturally unfulfilled to this point...
I WILL get a plant or two going eventually...at least here, we tend to have tomatoes into late October...
and I totally agree about tennis balls... YUCK ! that's why I like the old fashioned ones... with heirlooms, you don't get a lot of fruit, but they taste wonderful...

TASTE LIKE TENNIS BALLS! Holy cow you had me cracking up with that. Hilarity to be found at your place for sure... on top of some pretty red bulbs.

Tennis balls! Tomatoes! Oh my goodness. I am insanely jealous of your tomatoes this early in the season, but am also feeling very apprehensive about even commenting in case I am the unwitting subject of your ire in recent posts.
